When I reached 50, I decided to put some serious effort into losing a few pounds and getting back into good shape. I ate well and had a pretty strenuous exercise routine for about a year. I thought I was doing a respectable job. . . Then. . . I signed up for Nubody BootCamp. Participating in BootCamp that first month made me realize that I had no idea about the parts of my body I was neglecting in my routine, no notion of the extent to which I could truly push myself and I had mistaken thoughts about healthy eating. I can honestly say, at 52 I am in the best physical shape of my life, definitely equal to (and likely better than) the condition I was in during my late teens and early twenties when I was a competitive long-distance swimmer. However, the positive results of BootCamp do not end there.
By 7 a.m. I have completed what my husband describes as “the hardest part of the day.” I have increased energy, a positive attitude and a belief that I can accomplish what I set out to do. My mind is clear and I am able to focus on whatever needs to be done. . .during the school year, that involves responsibility for active preteens in the teaching world. I am not only able to “get through the day,” but to enjoy it.
Recently, on an annual trip to Callaway Gardens Summer Family Adventure with my extended family, I participated in daily biking and tennis, swimming and climbing activities, and golf. I was the first woman (and the 4th overall finisher) in the 5k Fun Run. At water skiing, the boat driver was so impressed with my stamina that he offered me an extra lap around the lake which I happily accepted. Two years ago, I was not even able to get up on the skis. Oh. . .what I was missing!
Thanks to you and to all the Nubody Trainers for helping me strive to reach my potential in so many areas. You have the perfect combination of encouragement and empathy in your sessions. Because of my experiences with you, I have a whole new appreciation for life and what it has to offer when I am at my best physically and mentally. I wish that everyone could experience life from this perspective! Thanks from the bottom of my (well-conditioned) heart.
I started boot camp because my medical readings kept going up and I was not happy with my weight. My doctor had encouraged me to get off pounds by using the Seattle Sutton diet plan. Nearly a year has gone by since I started boot camp with Stacy and I feel like the person I was 18 years ago when I had my first child. Exercise has always been important for me and I am so much happier with myself because of the boot camp. I have lost about 17 pounds and dropped 2 or 3 sizes in clothing. I also changed the way I eat and try to eat 5 small meals per day, which is the plan that Stacy encourages. I adore working out at 6am and with a group. It makes it so much more fun and challenging. I think being in a coed group really helps and pushes me. We have a lot of fun. I have also done weight/personal training with Stacy and that has been a great experience too. At my age (54) I know I need the weight training.
I have been a part of NuBody Training for three months and I have achieved more in that short period of time than I had done on my own in years! The trainers encourage you every step of the way and help you to push beyond what you thought you could do. I lost 15 ponds and 5% body fat! There are people of all different ages and fitness levels. There is no competition only positive reinforcement for your efforts. Your only goal is to make small gains every week. I would recommend this program to anyone.
